About this experience
What if making failure safe wasn’t about lowering the bar, but about raising it? In this interactive experience led by author and researcher Francesca Gino, your team will explore how innovative cultures balance tolerance for failure with a relentless commitment to high standards. Through a fast-paced electric maze game, participants will experience failure firsthand and see how their team responds in real time. You will learn to distinguish between productive failure that drives learning and mistakes that come from lack of care or discipline.

Pick this experience when…
Your team avoids failure, reacts poorly to setbacks, or struggles to hold a consistent bar for performance. This experience is especially helpful when teams are either too forgiving of poor execution or too quick to shut down ideas after something goes wrong.

What to expect during the experience?
Francesca will guide your team through an electric maze game where failure is inevitable and reactions happen in real time. As you navigate the challenge, you will notice how your team responds when things go wrong, from blame to withdrawal to learning. Through guided discussion and a short case example, participants will explore the difference between productive failure and poor execution, and what it takes to hold a high bar while still allowing room to learn. The experience highlights how strong standards make it safer, not harder, to work through setbacks. The session closes with a team reflection where participants identify one standard to reinforce and one area where they can create more room to learn from failure going forward.
